Each week in Kids Art we will focus on one famous artist and his or her technique. The children will learn a little about the artists life, and about what painting technique this artist used on his or her masterpieces. The brief lesson will be age appropriate, and kids will not only learn about amazing artists of the world but will practice some of their techniques!
This week we learned about Georges Seurat and Pointillism and did paintings with dots. we usually have time for a craft, and we painted cupcake paperweights.
This coming week we will learn about Van Gogh...my personal favorite!
My daughter Amy is helping me with Kids Art and I'm very excited! She is certified in Early Childhood Education, has been a preschool teacher 7 year in Boston and now New Haven, and has helped develop the Catch Program on youth health and fitness, used at Jcc preschools in Boston. She is wonderful with kids!
Kids Art is Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:00-5:30, and its $25 per child which includes materials. Contact the studio to reserve a space for your child in this very fun program!
Art has been shown to foster creativity in kids, as well as confidence, problem solving skills, perseverance, and focus. We encourage the kids to be creative in a positive environment, and color outside the lines if they need to. :)
