I grew up in Connecticut and have lived in Clinton with my husband, Gary, for 45 years. I have two grown children, and seven beautiful grandchildren, and I come from a family of artists. My mom, Shirley Price, was a pen and ink artist, and my brother and sister both paint professionally. I opened my own art studio in downtown Clinton in May of 2014, after owning Snow's Block Frame Gallery for 25 years.. Cindy Stevens Fine Art is located at 30 East Main St, Clinton, CT, and I am thrilled to be painting and operating a busy, colorful art studio!
I have had an affinity for art and creative projects through the years while raising children. I studied watercolor painting for a few years and discovered my love of oil painting a little later in life after trying a plein air workshop in Maine with my sister.
I discovered Monhegan Island in Maine through a workshop andd fell in love with it! I seem to be drawn to Monhegan every fall and I love the Monhegan energy and the focus that a week on the island provides. I painted in Italy and in France with workshop groups - Gary really enjoyed those trips as well! I have an impressionistic style and I primarily paint with a palette knife. I enjoy playing with color and light and expressing my own interpretation of the subject. I generally paint landscapes, especially involving water and rocks, flowers, and local scenes, and I love to paint plein air when I can.
Painting on location allows me to capture light effects and represent the intensity of color in a fresh way. I am a member of the Paint and Clay Club in New Haven, the Madison Art Society, and the Clinton Art Society. My work can be found in Cindy Stevens Fine Art, and Chips Pub III in Clinton. My studio has my original oil paintings, as well as mugs, and note cards made from my, paintings of Clinton, as well as a few gift items.. I have paint party events, birthday parties for all ages, and Kids Art classes afterschool. You can follow my art and events on my Cindy Stevens Fine Art Facebook page, or email at CindyStevensFineArt@gmail.com.
