About the Artist
Cindy Stevens

Cindy Stevens grew up in Connecticut and has lived in Clinton with her husband, Gary, for 42 years. She has two grown children, and seven beautiful grandchildren, and comes from a family of artists. Her mom, Shirley Price, was a pen and ink artist, and her brother and sister both paint professionally. Cindy opened her own art studio in downtown Clinton in May of 2014. Cindy Stevens Fine Art is located at 30 East Main St, Clinton, CT, and Cindy is thrilled to be painting and operating a busy art studio!
Cindy’s had an affinity for art and creative projects through the years while raising children. She studied watercolor painting for a few years and discovered her love of oil painting a little later in life after trying a plein air workshop in Maine with her sister.
She discovered Monhegan Island in Maine through a workshop andd fell in love with it! She seems to be drawn to Monhegan every fall and loves the Monhegan energy and the focus that a week on the island provides. Cindy painted in Italy and in France with Stan Moeller and his workshops - Gary really enjoyed those trips as well! Cindy has an impressionistic style and primarily paints with a palette knife. She enjoys playing with color and light and expresses her own interpretation of the subject. She generally paints landscapes, especially involving water and rocks, flowers, and local scenes, and loves to paint plein air.
Painting on location allows her to capture light effects and represent the intensity of color in a fresh way. Cindy is an artist member of the Paint and Clay Club in New Haven, the Guilford Art League, the Madison Art Society, and the Clinton Art Society. Cindy’s work can be found in Cindy Stevens Fine Art in Clinton. Cindy’s studio has her original oil paintings, as well as mugs, prints, and note cards made from her paintings of Clinton. Cindy does paint party events, birthday parties for all ages, corporate events, and Kids Art classes afterschool.
